Helping Heart Pittsburgh Chapter

Project: “Food for Healing”

  • Overview: Focused on the intersection of nutrition and community health. The Allentown chapter hosted monthly drives to collect and distribute nutrient-dense food boxes to underserved neighborhoods.

  • Partners: Local mosques, churches, and food pantries.

  • Impact: Provided over 1,000 healthy meals and raised awareness about the link between diet and chronic illness.

  • Additional Activities:

    • Launched a “Healthy Cooking on a Budget” workshop series.

    • Partnered with local dietetic students to provide nutrition counseling at distribution events.

Helping Heart Lehigh Valley Chapter

Project: “Community Wellness Fair”

  • Overview: Organized a large-scale health and wellness fair open to all residents in the Lehigh Valley area. The fair included free screenings, fitness demos, mental health discussions, and booths for local healthcare organizations.

  • Partners: Lehigh Valley Health Network, local nutritionists, and fitness instructors.

  • Impact: Over 300 attendees gained access to resources promoting physical and mental well-being.

  • Additional Activities:

    • Distributed educational pamphlets on diabetes, heart health, and stress management.

    • Offered free fruit and bottled water to encourage healthy habits.

Helping Heart Dickinson Chapter

Project: “Warm Hearts, Healthy Homes”

  • Overview: Focused on health and wellness for low-income families during the winter season. Students collected and distributed winter clothing, blankets, and basic medical supplies (like cough medicine and vitamins).

  • Partners: Worked with local shelters and the Carlisle Community Action Center.

  • Impact: Reached 50+ families with warmth and essential supplies, while also raising awareness about cold-related illnesses and prevention.

  • Additional Activities:

    • Hosted an educational talk on “Staying Healthy During Cold Weather.”

    • Collaborated with a local pharmacy to provide free flu shots.

Helping Heart Philadelphia Chapter

Project: “Healthy Streets Initiative”

  • Overview: Hosted a series of pop-up health booths across downtown Philadelphia providing free blood pressure checks, glucose testing, and mental health resource referrals.

  • Partners: Collaborated with Temple University’s public health students and local clinics.

  • Impact: Served over 200 community members in a single weekend, many of whom lacked regular access to healthcare.

  • Additional Activities:

    • Distributed hygiene kits and reusable masks.

    • Organized a “Know Your Numbers” workshop to teach participants how to understand health screening results.
